Dear U.S. Census,
Thanks for the temporary employment last year. The money helped, but truth be told, the experience was even better. For example, I got to meet all sorts of neighbors that I had no idea lived just around the corner, including the “Don’t Blink” guy. Yes, in my little corner of the City, the guy who starred in the Kenny Chesney video for Kenny’s delightful song “Don’t Blink” (is it just me, or does every man over 40 start appreciating country music more and more?) lives here with his wife and now his new baby. I just saw them all walk by my house tonight and they look darling.
As you can see if you click on the above link and watch the video, it was shot outside of Chicago at Mies van der Rohe’s famous Farnsworth House in Plano, Illinois. Obviously, they used computer effects for the “high-tech” gadets in the house, but otherwise it really is a glass house and has an open floor plan just like it does in the video.
Anyway, it was great to meet the “Don’t Blink” guy, who invited me into his home and told me about his budding acting career while I asked him intrusive Census questions. Amazing what you learn while working for the government!
